Fundraising 101

Fundraising 101

Having operated a child advocacy group, fundraising was one of our biggest concerns. We needed capital for flyers, website expenses, advertising, payroll, day to day expenses that had to be met on a monthly basis to continue our operations. Our biggest issue was locating those resources and securing them on a monthly basis.

I wish I had known then what I know now.

It happened one night as I was talking to a relative about a new opportunity they had embarked on. They were really excited and wanted to share this information with me. Of course being the skeptic I can be at times, I was unsure of the potential of what they were talking to me about. It was not until I had looked over they're website, that it came to me. I could use this to help generate funding for our efforts in child advocacy.

This got my attention real fast once it all settled in. They were already a key sponsor for the non-profit organization "Invisible Children". This fact alone with my love of children and always willing to help when I can was enough for me. I thought at the very least I would start ordering from them for this reason alone. This impressed me enough to at least agree to investigate further. Once I had taken literally only five minutes on their site, I was hooked! I could see the connection, and I could see the potential for a monthly income on a product that nearly every household already uses. This was after all a 70 Billion dollar a year industry. With a reported 400 billion servings yearly! I did not need nearly that much in revenue to successfully operate our efforts. If I could secure a mere .000001% ($70,000 a year) of this market I could take our efforts to the next level. I thought to myself wow; this is something that almost everyone is already doing anyways. If I could help raise the capital we needed to operate while not asking anyone to do anything any different than they were already doing, how could I refuse?

Then the questions began to come to mind. How could I fundraise and what would be the golden key product to help us to achieve our goals. The company was backed by some pretty impressive endorsements. Television stars, Medical Professionals, not to mention thousands of everyday people just like me.

You might be asking yourself what it is. Well it is as simple as drinking a cup of coffee! Seriously, how many people do you know that drink coffee weekly? How many times are you up late working on a new project and drinking coffee to stay awake so you can get the job done? It gets better than that too. I won't go any further but will refer you to the website to take a look for yourself. I always say "I can show you better than I can tell you."

If you are interested in helping to raise funding for a group, or a cause, then I highly recommend you take the same five minutes I did. It has changed our outlook on where we will be in a year, three years and five years.  Please be sure to let us know as we are also trying to raise capital for our efforts too. This will not only help you generate revenue for your cause, but it will help "Invisible Children" too!

I have worked closely with some of the best people in child advocacy and the common theme I heard as far as their biggest needs was fundraising. If they had more money they could grow and help more children. It only makes sense. If you do not have the capital for the day to day expenses then you cannot operate. If you belong to a group/organization or know of one that could benefit from a secured monthly income, then please get them this information. You can always have them contact me directly to help them anyway I can. The Child Protection Community is always willing to help those that help our children. Helping child advocacy groups grow by securing more income is just another way we can be an active part in the big picture. We have always said if you can help enough people get what they deserve, then you will find you will have what you deserve as well.
